IW4x Custom Maps

ℹ️ This content requires the base game Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare 2 on your hard drive in order to play. Extract the archive to your usermaps-folder - requires the latest version of IW4M. These maps are ported from IW3M to IW4x with the Map Porting Utility. We recommend to use IW4x for Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare 2 to ensure the best game experience. ⚠️ Some custom maps have the problem that they cannot be started via the main menu. until this problem has been solved, you can open the console and load the map manually. The IW4x Mapnames List may help.

Backlot Winter ⬤ 170.0 MB

The roof of the building in the middle, the workshop, is perfect for snipers and people who use heavy weapons such as a machine gun. However, you shouldn't stay on the second floor for too long, as there are two mounted machine guns opposite, both of which can penetrate the entire floor. Enemies can also come from behind by jumping onto a garbage can and then climbing through the window.

The map is set in a small coastal village, probably in Algeria or Morocco (as indicated by the partly French and partly Arabic writing on the map). The British SAS are pitted against the Russian inner circle. In the center is a marketplace that offers many elevated positions with a good overview.

Engage in classic urban combat with a mix of long lines of sight along the streets and melee combat indoors. Move carefully through open areas to avoid being gunned down by enemies above you, and don't be afraid to switch to your secondary weapon when moving through tight areas.

Plaza, similar to Express, is a nearly symmetrical map. The center area of the map can be overlooked by two balconies on each team's spawn. These places are common for snipers due to the view they provide, and tactical insertions are frequently used. These balconies have two entrances each, and without certain protection such as a Shock Charge or Bouncing Betty, can lead to the enemy quickly flanking players.

The map takes place in a small commercial district of Amsterdam in the midst of winter. The map is split in half by a frozen canal, which has three main access points: a wide vehicle bridge in the middle, a narrower pedestrian bridge at one end, and a frozen landing stage at the other end. A climbable canal boat near the landing stage provides a way for players on the canal to access the drawbridge - and vice-versa.
